Itinerary for Package Tour

Day- 01

Arrival at Dimapur & transfer to Kohima - On arrival, our representative will receive guests at Dimapur and assist them to get transfer to Kohima i.e. Kigwema Hornbill eco - Kohima,  is a hilly district of India's North Eastern State of Nagaland Kohima was originally known as Kewhira - The name, Kohima, was officially given by the British as they could not pronounce the Angami name of Kewhira (Tenyidie for "the land where the flower Kewhi grows") -  The town was founded in 1878 when the British Empire established its headquarters of the then Naga Hills - Kohima was the site of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II - The battle is often referred to as the ‘Stalingrad of the East’ - In 2013, the British National Army Museum voted the Battle of Kohima to be ‘Britain's Greatest Battle - It is called after the wild flowering plant Kewhi, found in the mountains. Most local people prefer to use 'Kewhira'  - Campsite - If time permits visit Kisama Festival ground for the cultural show - Overnight stay at Tent at Kisama

Day- 02

Kisama Activities - Kisama is derived from two villages namely, Kigwema (KI) and Phesama(SA) and MA which means Village - Kisama is nearly 12 kilometers from Kohima on the National Highway number 39 - The gentle slope at the base of a steep mountain peak is the venue for the famed Hornbill Festival - After breakfast walk to the festival ground and enjoy the cultural performance of different Naga tribes - This Heritage village is designed in a traditional pattern to keep alive the Naga culture in their indigenous typical architectural designs and concepts - "Morung or Youth Dormitory" is the tribal house - The heritage complex includes a World War II Museum, Bamboo Heritage Hall, Bamboo Pavilion, Kids Carnival, Horti-Scape, Food Courts and Stadium for Live concerts, Naga Idol, Beauty Pageant, Fashion Shows, etc - Various Naga tribes like Aao, Tankhul, Zemi, etc. are famous for their lifestyle, dwelling, handloom, war dance, playful activities, and war song along with their cuisine  [Mostly Non Veg] - All the activities are photographer’s delight - Then pick a camera and be the photographer for the whole day - Evening back to camp and enjoy campfire - Breakfast / (Dinner on request at least 4 hours prior notice Only)

Day- 03

Kigwema - Dzukou (Trek) - Early breakfast - Next drive to Jakhama for onward Dzukou trek - Reach Jakhama after a half an hour and trek start to the Dzukou valley which is also known  Dzükou is originally derived from the Viswema dialect of the Angamis which means "Soulless and Dull" referring due to the unfavorable weather conditions they were unable to harvest crops which led them to say "the valley is very beautiful but is dull and soulless and its sharing the border with Manipur - Trekking  08 - 10 kilometers in 02 - 03 hours time - It will take an extra hour more to witness the flowers, river stream and beautiful valley with greenery all around - From three hours trekking one hour was quite steep and another two hours were through beautiful terrains of the valley which is almost a flat trek - Explore wildflowers, rhododendrons, birds and valley view with gradual slope - Overnight at Forest Trekkers hut / Tent

Note:  Available are tea, coffee, noodles, and simple lunch/dinner with dal and rice only - Guests can get utensils also on rent from there if you want to cook your own food. Tents are also available on rent. The valley is best visited in the full bloom season when beautiful lilies, aconitums, euphorbias and other species of flowery plants carpet the landscape

Day- 04

Dzukou - Kigwema Trek -  Start the trek after breakfast - The trek is through steep way - Dzukou valley is well known for its natural environment, seasonal flowers and flora and fauna - It is situated at an altitude of 2452 meters -  Valley is situated at the border of the states of Nagaland and Manipur  - It is situated at behind the Japfü Peak located in Nagaland - Kigwema is an Angami Naga village located 15 kilometers south of Kohima, the capital of Nagaland - The name "Kigwema" originates from words of Khonoma village dialect, "Ki" meaning "House", "Gwe" meaning "inheritor occupy" and "ma" meaning "people" - Literally, Kigwema means people who inherit or occupied the houses - Kigwema is one of the oldest villages amongst the Angami Naga villages. Several Angami, Chakhesang and Sumi Naga villages lay claim to the fact that their villages were established by men from Kigwema - During World War II, Japanese troops arrived in Kigwema on 4 April 1944, at 4:00 PM. The Japanese commander, General Kotoku Sato was stationed in Kigwema during the Battle of Kohima -The rare Dzükou Lily is found only in this valley -  Evening back to Kigwema - Overnight stay at Kigwema

Day- 05

Kigwema –  Kohima – Khonoma – Early morning breakfast - Next breakfast Explore Kohima, war sanctuary, church, hiking to Pulley Badge peak - After lunch moves towards Khonoma - Khonoma village is located about 20 kilometers from the state capital, Kohima - The terrain of the village is hilly, ranging from gentle slopes to steep and rugged hillsides. The hills are covered with lush forestland, rich in various species of flora and fauna. The state bird, Blyth's tragopan, a pheasant now nationally endangered, is found here - Overnight stay at Khonoma - Khonoma is a heritage village known for its heroic personality Fijo - It is located approximately 20 kilometers from the Kohima - The village, referred to as Khwunoria / Gloutheria fragrantisima (local plant named in Angami) which is estimated to be 700 years old and spread over more than 120 square kilometers -  Over a hundred years ago, the intruder British troops found themselves facing a determined warrior tribe and Angami men of Khonoma under the leadership of Fijo, resisted themselves from 1830-1890 as per village  record - Inflicting heavy causalities on foreigners, the Naga warriors famed for their material prowess and strategic skills - But finally it came under British rule and Christianity introduced in1890 in this village - Overnight at Homestay 

Day- 06

Khonoma - Khonoma is an Angami Naga village located about 20 kilometers west from the state capital, Kohima - The village is referred to as Khwuno-ra (named after the Angami term for a local plant, Gloutheria fragrantisima (local plant named in Angami) - It is the first green village in India - The terrain is hilly, ranging from gentle slopes to steep and rugged hillsides - The hills are covered with lush forestland, rich in various species of flora and fauna - State bird, Blyth's tragopan, a pheasant now nationally endangered, is found here - Apart from Historical background, Khonoma is famous for its natural resources - This is the first green village of North East India - Blyth’s tragopan is often sighted here and only tragopan sanctuary is found here - Besides its unique forest and terrace cultivation with Napalese Alder nutrition kind of eco- friendly organic food growing - Bird watching is the prime activity for tourists - Overnight at Homestay 

Day- 07

Departure Transfer from Airport or Station - The fastest and best route is to fly to Guwahati Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU) - Further one can fly further or avail train from Guwahati Railway Station (GHY) as per schedule -  The major port is Dimapur Airport (DMU) / Dimapur Railway Station (DMV) - Khonoma - Dimapur - Early Morning breakfast - Dimapur Airport (DMU) is located at 3rd mile (NH 39) - The only civil airport in the state and has flights to Kolkata, Delhi and Dibrugarh - Dimapur Railway Station (DMV)  direct train services to cities like Guwahati, Kolkata, New Delhi, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Dibrugarh and Chennai from the Dimapur railway station - The National Highway 39 that connects Kohima, Imphal and the Myanmar border at Moreh runs through Dimapur - If time permits visit Dimapur wholesale Market – Forwarding Journey (Breakfast Included)
