Day - 02 - Kamakhya Temple Visit & Transfer to Shillong - Morning visit kamkhya temple - Back to hotel for breakfast - Next transfer to shillong - The ‘Gleneagles of the East’ lies in the centre of a plateau surrounded by Khasi hills. The gorgeous city offers amazing tourist spots. Day - 03 - Shillong Sightseeing - After early breakfast proceed to Cherrapunjee - Enjoy a pleasant drive to see water falls & gorges - Cherrapunjee - Cherrapunjee, locally and officially known as Sohra- It was the headquarters of the Khasi / Jaintia province during British rule which was however shifted to Shillong in 1864 - The average rainfall is 12,000 mm a year and the record for a single day was 2455 mm recorded in 1974 confirming it as the “Wettest place on Earth” - It is impressive with its gushing waterfalls and the deep gorges - Views of the plains of Bangladesh, Seven Sisters falls, Mawsmai cave, Thangkharang Park - Return to Shillong - Enroute visit at Shillong Peak - Overnight stay at Shillong
Day - 04 - Shillong to Kaziranga Transfer - Early morning breakfast - Next proceed for Kaziranga National Park - It is Approximately 350 kilometres and is nearly 07 to 08 hours drive by road - Kaziranga National park is the oldest national park in Assam, situated in the south bank of the Brahmaputra River, is famous for its great Indian one-horned rhinoceros, of which there are aplenty - Kaziranga National Park is a protected area in the northeast Indian state of Assam - Spread across the floodplains of the Brahmaputra River, its forests, wetlands and grasslands are home to tigers, elephants and the world’s largest population of Indian one-horned rhinoceroses - Ganges River dolphins swim in the park’s waters - It’s visited by many rare migratory birds, and gray pelicans roost near Kaziranga villag - It is spreading across roughly 430 square kilometres - Evening free to stroll around the area - Overnight at Kaziranga
Day - 05 – Kaziranga Forest Activities - Early morning start for elephant safari early in the morning in the central range of the park, for one hour - Afterwards we go back to the resort / lodge for breakfast - park gives a thrill with the view of great Indian one-horned rhinoceros, swamp deer, wild elephant, tiger, leopard, Buffalo, wild boar and many more - It is a dazzling mosaic of dense rain forest, tall elephant grass and swathes of reeds interspersed with vast tracts of marshes and shallow pools that are a favorite haunt of this celebrity pre-historic beast - Evening free to enjoy surrounding area - Overnight at Kaziranga - [Note: Elephant and Jeep at own cost]
Day - 06 – Kaziranga to Dirang Transfer - Early morning breakfast - Start early in the morning for Dirang - It is approximately 250 kilometres and is nearly 06 to 08 hours drive by road via Chariduar - Tawang Road - On the way visit Tippi On the banks of the river Bharali at an elevation of 190 meters - It is an orchidarium with over 7500 orchids - On display are some of the finest species with names like the Dainty Lady's Slipper or the more formal sounding Dendrobium - Arunachal has the largest range of orchids in the country - Cross beautiful waterfalls and get some spectacular views on the way - Check in to your hotel - One can visit Apple Nursery, Kiwi farm, Dzong (fort), hot water spring, etc at Dirang - Overnight stay in Dirang
Day - 07 – Transfer to Tawang - After breakfast drive to Tawang - It is approximately 135 kilometres and is nearly 04 - 05 hours drive by road - The route is scenic and bit rough - Also enroute witness the snowcapped Sella Pass at 14000 feet and the Jaswant Garh War Memorial - (Legend has it that Jaswant (Mahavir Chakra Awardee (Posthumous) of 4th Batallion Garhwal Rifles), fought a lone battle against the Invading Chinese during the 1962 war - Tawang is a mountain town in India in the state of Arunachal Pradesh - It’s home to the 17th-century Tawang Monastery, a hilltop structure housing a massive gilded Buddha statue - The War Memorial commemorates soldiers who died in the 1962 Chinese-Indian War - Nearby, tranquil Penga Teng Tso (P. Day - 08 - Tawang Sightseeing - Tawang - The beautiful land of the Monpa tribes with the “Galden Namgyel Lhatse” Monastery - one of the largest Lamaseries of Mahayana sects in Asia. The birth place of the 6th Dalai Lama, the Monastery is 400 year old and is adorned with the 18 feet high statue of Lord Buddha - ‘The Land of Dawn-lit Mountains’ at 3500 meters gives you unparallel purity of nature. Day - 09 - Tawang to Bomdilla Transfer - After breakfast transfer to Bomdila - A drive for nearly 190 kilometres and is roughly 06 hours - On the way we cross one of the highest Pass of northeast India - The Sela Pass (14000 feet) - Bomdila which is situated at an altitude of 8500 feet - Bomdilla has Gontse Rabgyaling Monastery (Upper Gonpa), Thub-Chog Gatsel Ling Monastery (Lower Gonpa), Bomdila View Point - There are beautiful apple orchards and Buddhist monasteries as well - Evening you can visit the local market - Overnight stay in Bomdila
