Pelling / Gyalshing / Dentam – These are nearby places close to each other and one can stay in any one place to cover the other destinations as sightseeing activities. Pelling is also the base camp for Dzongri trek and there are quite a number of short trek from Pelling and Yuksom.
 
Pelling – Pelling is the hub of West Sikkim. Pelling is the second biggest tourist destination in the state of Sikkim after Gangtok. It is little more than a strip of road lined with hotels. It is known for the breathtaking view of mount Khangchendzonga and the rest of the Himalayan range. Pelling is situated at an altitude of 2000 meters. The destination experience moderate climate where the temperature in summer goes up to 25 °C and comes down to 1°C in winter. It is warm and pleasant in summer and cold in winter but with bright sun shining and clear sky most of the time. Clothing required is light with light jumper in summer and heavy woolens in winter. Monsoon is from July to September.
 
Pemayangtse monastery is less than a kilometer from Pelling and a 40 minute walk on the hill opposite the monastery is Sanga Choling monastery built in 1697 both are tourist hotspot. Its serene environment and picturesque setting is perfect for nice nature walks and small treks. It is a destination for all seasons; it is the centre from where all the breath taking tourist spots of West Sikkim can be easily covered in different optional sightseeing tours. Close to this are Yuksom with the famous Dzongri trek option, Ravangla with its picturesque setting of Temi tea estate, few home stay and many other tourist attractions.
 
Pelling has all kinds of tourists facilities including the hotels of all categories ranging from the low budget tourist guest houses to middle, high standard hotels, resorts, restaurants, fast-food corners for all kinds of cuisines including local Sikkim’s food, variety shops and internet / communication centers. Places Of Interest includes Pemayangtse Monastery, Sangachoeling Monastery, Rabdentse Palace Ruins, Legship Rangeet River Dam, Reshi Hot Spring, Naku Chumbong & Singyang Sindrang, Rimbi River, few Waterfalls, Sewaro Rock Garden, Uttarey, Khangchendzonga Waterfalls, Rathong Bridge, Lethang Lepcha Village, Khecheopalri Lake,  Monastery & Cave, Tashiding Monastery, Darap Subba Village, Varsey  Rhododendron sanctuary, Hee Bermiok, Rinchenpong, Changay Falls, Singshore Bridge Uttarey Village, etc. The distances from Pelling to nearby tourist places arePelling to Gyalshing is 10 kilometres, Pelling to Ravangla is 80 Kilometres, Pelling to Rimbi 13 kilometres, Pelling to Dentam is 20 Kilometres, Pelling to Uttarey is 31 kilometres, Pelling to Hee is 28 kilometres, Pelling to Bermiok is 35 kilometres, Pelling to Kaluk is 39 kilometres, Pelling to Soreng is 55 kilometres. Gyalshing – Gyalshing or Geyzing is the capital of the district of West Sikkim.  The town is connected by road to Pelling, Yuksom, Jorethang, Ravangla, Gangtok etc. Geyzing is also connected to the West Bengal towns of Darjeeling and Kalimpong via Jorethang. Attractions include Pemayangtse Monastery built in 1640, reputed to be Sikkim's oldest and Khecheopalri Lake which as legend has it not a leaf is allowed to float on the surface. The town is the base for trekking in the Himalayas and professional expeditions to Mount Kanchenjunga. Though it is advisable to stay in Pelling yet one can cover the same sightseeing from this place like Pemayangtse Monastery, Sangachoeling Monastery, Rabdentse Palace Ruins, Legship Rangeet River Dam, Reshi Hot Spring, Naku Chumbong & Singyang Sindrang, Rimbi River, few Waterfalls, Sewaro Rock Garden, Uttarey, Khangchendzonga Waterfalls, Rathong Bridge, Lethang Lepcha Village, Khecheopalri Lake,  Monastery & Cave, Tashiding Monastery, Darap Subba Village, Varsey  Rhododendron sanctuary, Hee Bermiok, Rinchenpong, Changay Falls, Singshore Bridge Uttarey Village, Hingsang Gompa, etc. Uttarey is a nice little hamlet and you can spend a night here. Another major attraction is the Rhododendron forests in full bloom around the Varsey in spring i.e. March – April. A three to four night trek is quite nice and enjoyable. Bird watchers generally take this trek. Another nearby Destination is Ravangla with the following places of interest including Rayong Sunrise View Point, Temi Tea Garden, Ralang hot spring,
Ralang Monastery, Borong & Ralang Cha - Chu, Mangbrue Gompa & view point, Tashiding Monastery, Tendong, Meanam (10800 feet), Samdupche / Samdruptse, etc
 
The major sightseeing can be divided into two phase the first phase includes Pemayangtse Monastery, Rimbi Rock Garden, Khecheopalri lake, Kanchendzonga falls, Yuksom including karthok lake and Norbugang Chorten and the second one includes Changay waterfalls, Dentam Valley, Singshore Bridge, Uttarey, etc. Yet we would suggest that this can be covered staying at Pelling better than Gyalshing.
 
The distances from Gyalshing /Geyzingto Gangtok is 110 kilometres, Gyalshing to Jorethang is 42 kilometres, Gyalshing to Siliguri is 124 kilometres, Gyalshing to Kalimpong is 100 kilometres
 
 
Dentam – Dentam like any other Sikkim Village is a scenic and is located nearly 10 kilometres from Barsey / Varsey in West Sikkim District. It lies at an elevation of around 1500 meters. Dentam offers a view of the mighty Kanchenjunga and part of the Himalayan range. The entire area is nearly 10 kilometres, Ravangla is approximately 70 kilometres and Hilley are nearby interesting destinations to visit from Dentam. Dentam is covered from Pelling in its one day sightseeing tour along with Singshore Bridge. The drive is scenic and the place is worth visiting any time of the year. The destination experience moderate climate where the temperature in summer goes up to 24 °C and comes down to 4°C in winter. It is warm and pleasant in summer and cold in winter but with bright sun shining and clear sky most of the time. Clothing required is light with light jumper in summer and heavy woolens in winter. Monsoon is from July to September.
 
The village is an ideal spot for trekkers, bird watchers and nature lovers. Trekking and mountaineering are arranged here, this is also nice for leisure tour. About an hour drive from Hee Bermiok is the attractive village of Dentam. It is famous for the Alpine Gouda Cheese factory a product of Indo - Swiss collaboration. Sikkim Dairy Products Private Limited (SDPPL) and was established in 1996. Cheese Plant at Dentam, West Sikkim, manufactures Gouda Cheese (naturally ripened cheese) and is one of the tourist attractions. Quality cow’s milk is used under hygienic environment to produce Cheese and Paneer (Frozen Diced Paneer). Recently some home stay has come up in these places.
 
The distances to nearby places are Dentam to Gyalshing is 28 kilometres, Pelling to Dentam is nearly 20 kilometres, Kaluk to Dentam is 19 kilometres, Dentam to Uttarey is 11 kilometres, Dentam to Kalimpong is nearly 100 kilometres, Dentam to Yuksom is 62 kilometres and Dentam to Siliguri is nearly 150 kilometres.
